Recreate

Recreate is a community art space run by artists, for artists.

A former empty shop space at 40 Brighton Mall is now teaming with artistic creations. Recreate was originally a reflection of the creativity and activities taking place at Te Kura Tawhito (the old Central New Brighton School site), however, it now proudly hosts art works and creations from over 30 local artists, showing the need for such a facility in Brighton.

This project’s existence has been made possible by Renew Brighton, Countdown, Development Christchurch Ltd (DCL) (now Christchurch NZ), the Christchurch City Council (CCC) , the former residents at Te Kura Tawhito The Old School and local artists and artisans.

Recreate  assists with the revival of Brighton Mall and gives exposure to many talented locals. It is currently open on Saturdays between 10 am and 2 pm - alongside the  Seaside Market.  Recreate is also available as an exhibition space.
